CEO of SSE Business Lab

The SSE Business Lab operates as an autonomous unit within the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) House of Innovation, and is the primary link between SSE and the Stockholm entrepreneurial ecosystem.

About the position

As the CEO, you drive the execution of the strategy for the Lab in its day-to-day operations. Specifically, you will oversee the programs in the incubator and ensure its alignment with the mission and vision of SSE.

Caring for funding of the Lab is a primary concern. As such you will develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective funders and supporters. Today, the Lab is funded by a mix of sources, such as foundations, private partners, and NGOs.

You will lead a high-performing team comprising of a handful entrepreneurial and aspiring colleagues. Together, you work to create and nurture the best possible conditions for the startups across all the programs in the SSE Business Lab. You will also interact with several key stakeholders to the Stockholm School of Economics, such as: alums, partner networks and scholars. You will also work closely with SSE Business Lab’s fund SSE Ventures.

Across all areas of responsibility support is provided from SSE. Specifically, the strategy of the SSE Business Lab is designed and driven by the CEO with support from the Board of Directors, and major fundraising is done in close collaboration with SSE’s unit for Corporate and Donor Relations, and with the House of Innovation.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Work experience from relevant fields such as business development or the startup scene.
• Familiarity with entrepreneurial ecosystems, for example, incubators, the venture capital industry, funding intermediaries, or other private initiatives.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.

Desirable experiences and skills:

• Experience from building and growing a startup from day one.
• Demonstrated understanding of funds and startup investments.
• Experience from board level work.
• Experience from working in an academic environment, with research or in other ways.

SSE Business Lab is the startup incubator of the Stockholm School of Economics. The incubator is an integrated part of the School, working to encourage entrepreneurship among students, alumni and faculty. Through coaching, mentorship, workshops, and access to a first-class network of investors, SSE Business Lab helps startups develop their ideas, accelerate their growth, and create impact.
