Digital Collections and Instruction Librarian

We are looking for a Librarian who is interested in acquiring, managing and promoting digital content such as databases, e-journals, e-books and other e-media. About the role 

The role of the Digital collections and Instruction Librarian is fundamentally collaborative. You will be building cross-departmental collaborations to leverage the expertise of other librarians, staff in professional services and researchers. An understanding of institutional goals as well as funders’, publishers’ and legal requirements on archiving of research output is essential. We are committed to the continuing professional development of our team and work in a medium/small academic library with a large mission. This means that the tasks and responsibilities of our librarians are various and develop according to interests and organizational needs. While the focus of this position is on digital collections and instruction, we encourage candidates who have a broad interest in library services.  

 
Your main tasks:  

  • Acquire, manage and promote primarily digital content such as databases, e-journals, e-books and other e-media, 
  • In collaboration with library colleagues and campus partners, design, implement and assess library instructional activities 
  • In collaboration with library colleagues and the Research Office, develop, implement and advocate for policies related to research output and open science, 
  • Additional various tasks according to interests, skills, and organizational needs, such as: activities related to open science, publication support, research data management, bibliometrics and work in the library’s customer service team. 

Qualifications 

In order to be successful in this role, you need to have excellent outreach skills, as well as being service-oriented and interested in user-centered approaches to service development. You thrive in a collaborative environment, while also working independently to structure your work and drive processes forward. 

Required   

  • Master in Library and Information Science, or equivalent higher education and experience,
  • At least two years’ experience in a similar position,
  • Pedagogical skills,
  • Desire and skill to adapt to emerging technologies to enhance user experience and engagement,
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Swedish and English. 

Meritorious 

  • Experience in project management. 

Terms

This is a full-time, permanent position located in Stockholm. A 6 months probationary period will be applied. Preferred starting date as soon as possible with the consideration of any period of notice. 

About the Library 

The SSE Library is a highly digitized information and knowledge hub supporting and empowering researchers and students to find fact-based and creative ways to conduct scholarly work. Furthermore, the library is a natural partner for the dissemination and utilization of scholarly output as well as in research and learning analytics. The library is also a physical space for reflection and exploration, situated in what may be the most beautiful part of the original Ivar Tengbom building on Sveavägen 65.
