Research Analyst Position in Finance

Department of Finance

The Department of Finance at the Stockholm School of Economics seeks applications for a two-year pre-doctoral research analyst position in empirical finance funded by the Wallenberg Foundation. The expected start date is 1 July 2021.

The position will suit a candidate who intends to gain experience of research in finance before applying to a PhD program in finance, economics, or another social science. As a research analyst, you will be working on cutting-edge empirical research projects in finance. You will work in close contact with researchers at the Department of Finance. The program serves as an ideal bridge between university and PhD program for students interested in empirical research in finance or economics. Our previous research analysts are either enrolled in top PhD programs in Europe and the US or working in industry as data scientists or financial analysts.

The successful candidate will be based full time in Stockholm for the duration of the position.

Job qualifications

Applicants should be completing (or have recently completed) a Master’s degree in a field related to economics, finance, or computer science and have strong quantitative and programming skills. Outstanding programming skills are expected in a minimum of two of the following: Stata, SAS, SQL, Matlab, Julia, or R. Proficiency in Python, familiarity with Natural Language Processing, and experience in web scraping and record linkage are a plus. Excellent spoken and written English is a requirement.
