Research Assistant to the Department of Finance

Department of Finance

You would contribute to a project on developing a Python machine learning toolbox on google cloud. Your role would consist of managing large amounts of data and programming economic and statistical models in Python.

We want you: a recent academic graduate, or about to graduate, with a focus on (financial) mathematics, mathematical finance, (mathematical) statistics or an equivalent degree that includes a significant share of programming. We want you to have advanced data cleaning and programming skills.

As a person, you are analytical, independent and eager to acquire new knowledge. Since you will work with multiple researchers at the Swedish House of Finance, the position requires you to be service-minded and cooperative. Since the work is largely about programming and advanced data management, it is also important that you are structured, accurate and persistent.

We offer challenging tasks in a highly topical field of asset pricing research. With us, you get knowledgeable and committed colleagues and a great opportunity to learn about economics and financial research. The position as a research assistant has previously proven to be valuable for further (inter)national PhD studies in Statistics, Finance and Economics. The position is a fixed-term full-time employment of approximately one year. However, the terms are very flexible and negotiable (could be part-time, for as little as 3 months, or extended to two years).

We accept application on a continuing basis and the ad may close before the last application day. If you have questions, please contact Adrien d’Avernas (adrien.davernas@hhs.se), Assistant Professor of Finance at the Swedish House of Finance.

Desired start date is around the Summer 2021, but both an earlier and a later start is possible.

You can apply for the position by uploading your application to the recruitment system "Varbi". Please include following attachments:

  • Brief motivation (max 500 characters) in your email
  • CV and programming skills
  • Current grades from your university
