Tenure Track Position at the Department of Accounting, Stockholm School of Economics

About the position

The tenure track position is in business administration with a focus on accounting (i.e., financial accounting, auditing, management accounting & control, and financial analysis). The appointment is for 3+3 years, with the possibility of receiving tenure and a permanent employment. The basic requirement is that candidates are strong both in research and teaching. Ideally, applicants should be able to teach in each of these areas at the undergraduate level. However exceptional competence within one or two of these fields can compensate for shortcomings in the remaining field(s).

Qualified candidates should hold a doctoral degree (or equivalent) and must have completed said requirement before taking up the position. A tentative starting date for the successful applicant is July 1, 2023, but SSE is open to discussing other dates as well. Salaries are set on an individual basis.

To be considered for the position, candidates need to submit: a) a letter of application articulating the candidate´s fit with the position description and profile of the department, including research interests and teaching competence, b) a curriculum vitae, c) copies of representative research (published articles or working papers), and d) names and contact information of three references.

The Department of Accounting is the leading accounting department in Sweden with about 20 faculty and 15 PhD students. Our research covers a broad range of topics related to management accounting & control, financial & sustainability accounting, auditing, taxation, financial analysis, valuation, and corporate governance. Our faculty, many with an international background, regularly publish in leading accounting journals and employ both qualitative and quantitative research methods. We are also proud of our PhD program which is part of the Swedish research school in accounting, called FIRE (Forskarskolan i redovisning).  

Our teaching is highly appreciated by both students and executives and our faculty is engaged in teaching at the Bachelor, Master, PhD, MBA levels as well as at SSE Executive Education. We offer a two-year Master Program in Accounting, Valuation and Financial Management, known for its practical relevance and excellent placement of the students. We also have ambitious outreach work navigated through our Accounting Center of Excellence (ACE) which involves Atlas Copco, Deloitte, Elekta, Ericsson, EY, Handelsbanken, Investor, KPMG, McKinsey, Nordea, PwC, Ratos, and Skanska.
