The Stockholm School of Economics is seeking a Scholarly Communication Librarian

We are seeking to employ a librarian who is interested in developing and promoting our services related to scholarly communication and open science. This is a permanent position.

Your main tasks:

  • In collaboration with library colleagues, IT Services and Research Office, develop and manage our research management systems to meet current and future needs.
  • In collaboration with the Research Office, develop, implement and advocate for policies related to research output and open science
  • During 2020 and 2021, work with the implementation of a cross-departmental support function for FAIR research data (a so called “data access unit”)
  • Additional various tasks according to interests and organizational needs, including metadata tasks and work in the library’s customer service team

Your qualifications

  • Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent education
  • Knowledge of the scholarly publishing landscape, and specifically of the Open Access movement and its impact on the publishing landscape, digital preservation, metadata standards and copyright
  • Experience with relevant metadata schemata and identifiers
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience with bibliometric monitoring
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Swedish and English
  • Desire and skill to adapt to emerging technologies to enhance user experience and engagement
  • Having experience with research data management support is a plus

The role of the Scholarly Communication Librarian is fundamentally collaborative. You will be building cross-departmental collaborations to leverage the expertise of other librarians, staff in professional services and researchers. An understanding of institutional goals as well as funders’, publishers’ and legal requirements on archiving of research output is essential. In order to be successful in this role, you need to have excellent advocacy and outreach skills, as well as being service oriented and interested in user-centered approaches to service development. We are committed to the continuing professional development of our team and work in a medium/small academic library with a large mission. This means that the tasks and responsibilities of our librarians are various and develop according to interests and organizational needs. While the focus of this position is on scholarly communication, we encourage candidates who have a broad interest in library services.

About the Library

The SSE Library is a highly digitized information and knowledge hub supporting and empowering researchers and students to find fact based and creative ways to conduct scholarly work. Furthermore, the library is a natural partner for the dissemination and utilization of scholarly output as well as in research and learning analytics. The library is also a physical space for reflection and exploration, situated in what may be the most beautiful part of the original Ivar Tengbom building on Sveavägen 65.
