The Stockholm School of Economics is seeking a Systems Librarian

Library

We are seeking to employ a systems librarian who is interested in developing and managing our systems related to information discovery and scholarly communication. This is a permanent position.

Your main tasks

  • To provide continuous administration, support and development of our integrated library system and discovery tools. In December 2019, we joined the Alma/Primo-community.
  • In collaboration with library colleagues, IT Services and Research Office, plan the development and management of our new research information system (RIS) to meet current and future needs.
  • Represent the library in relevant professional networks, working groups etc.
  • To train staff in the use of applications and systems.
  • To monitor current and recent industry trends in search, discovery and delivery systems.
  • Additional various tasks according to interests and organizational needs, which could include e.g. metadata tasks, working with research data support, and customer services.

Your qualifications

  • Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent education.
  • Working knowledge and direct experience with integrated library systems and related discovery products.
  • Knowledge of relevant metadata schemata and identifiers, as well as the workflows that are connected to each.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and assess business proposals and plans for information technology projects.
  • Full professional proficiency in English and in Swedish.
  • Proven desire and skill to monitor and put to use relevant emerging technologies to enhance the library’s service offer to patrons.

Meritorious

  • Previous experience of working with the Alma/Primo systems.
  • Experience of working with systems related to the management and follow up of research output at an academic institution is a plus (e.g. DiVA, Pure, Converis).
  • Experience with project management.

The role

The primary role of the Systems Librarian is to provide both leadership and support when it comes to software solutions to library services. You have the capacity to thrive in a collaborative and future-oriented environment of a major research institution and to respond effectively to changing needs. You will work in close collaboration with the IT department, collection staff, outreach and scholarly communications librarians and vendor technical support. In order to be successful in this role you need to be service oriented and interested in user-centered approaches to service development. An analytical and pedagogical approach is also essential.

The SSE library is a medium/small academic library with a large mission. Currently, we are twelve information professionals working in the library. This means that the opportunities for professional development are significant and that you will work in a supportive and progressive team. The tasks and responsibilities of our colleagues are various and develop according to interests and organizational needs. While the focus of this position will continue to be on development and administration of our library systems, we encourage candidates who have a broad interest in library services.

About the Library

The SSE Library is a highly digitized information and knowledge hub supporting and empowering researchers and students to find fact based and creative ways to conduct scholarly work. Furthermore, the library is a key partner for the dissemination and utilization of scholarly output as well as in research and learning analytics. The library is also a physical space for reflection and exploration, situated in what may be the most beautiful part of the original Ivar Tengbom building on Sveavägen 65.
